1.Reality TV

Concept of reality TV firstly appears in 1940's. However in 2000's it has widespread popularity among most of the countries. As we know that most popular ones are ‘Big Brother’, ‘Survivor’, ‘American Idol’, and ‘Fear Factor’ in American television. Due to the fact that reality programmes topped the ratings, Turkish channels also bring out them. This brings out term which is voyeurism. Watching reality shows seems to be only watching TV but it turns out to peeping ordinary people since people do not mind constant having a bath or sleeping.

Why do people watch these programs despite the fact that there are lots of strangers in these programs? Maybe it is related to arouse curiosity so people can not avoid watching and gossip about them after the day or maybe they want to watch these people to find something which is in common so they do not feel alone about it anymore. Also usually people like making criticism even if they do not know anything about these constants or even it doesn’t interest them. All of these notions lead to continuousness of reality shows. I hope channels find really different concept from that we can get rid of it :)

An interesting post on reality TV - can you relate your observations to Rushdie's predictions about the future of reality TV?
    Keep up the good work!

  2. i really like the cartoon, for me showing cartoons is a better way to help understanding the reality tv topic, rather than showing violence, war or death bodies.
